Insurity’s 2025 Digital Experience Index reveals that while insurers are ramping up investment in automation and AI, only 15% of consumers prefer a fully digital, self-service experience—underscoring the need for balance between technology and human support. Nearly half of respondents favor a digital-first model with the option for human interaction, especially during high-stakes moments like claims. AI is gaining traction, particularly among Millennials and Gen Z, who are more comfortable with tools like real-time weather alerts and AI-powered services. However, transparency remains crucial, with 64% of consumers citing it as key to trusting AI. The report emphasizes that insurers who blend AI-driven efficiency with empathetic, accessible human support will build stronger relationships, reduce churn, and position themselves as leaders in the evolving digital landscape.💻🌍

🌎Around the World

⛈️Following a highly active 2024 Atlantic hurricane season that produced five major storms, including Hurricanes Helene and Milton, forecasts from Acrisure Re suggest the 2025 season will also be above average, though likely less intense than last year. Cooler—but still above-normal—Atlantic sea surface temperatures, a neutral ENSO phase, and near-average conditions in the Sahel region are expected to support storm activity. NOAA predicts 13 to 19 named storms, 6 to 10 hurricanes, and 3 to 5 major hurricanes. Despite the risks, the 2025 reinsurance market has seen property catastrophe rates decline, with further reductions noted in Florida mid-year renewals. Early storm development is possible in late May, prompting close monitoring from Acrisure Re’s analytics team. As Ming Li emphasized, these forecasts help clients prepare with greater precision and confidence ahead of another potentially challenging hurricane season.

😂Here’s a “cool” and “FUN” Fact: last week we celebrated the PIA National Mid-Year Leadership Conference in conjunction with the PIA Northeast Convention. It was a full house with over 2,000 insurance professionals there. I mean, what an amazing event! During one of their luncheons, I was able to deliver remarks as President of PIA National. In my remarks, I highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration in the insurance industry. I believe that if we all keep working together as a team, we will enhance our industry and build a better and brighter future.
