Florida’s newest property insurer, Mangrove Property Insurance Co., is making waves 🌊 with an “A, Exceptional” Financial Stability Rating from Demotech, signaling strong financial backing as it gears up to serve the Sunshine State. 😷Insurance Australia Group (IAG) is making a major move! 🎉 The insurer is releasing A$200 million ($124.3 million) of its A$380 million COVID-19 business interruption reserves after a federal court declassified a pending case. While the remaining reserves account for potential future claims, this decision comes after a thorough actuarial review and will be reflected in IAG’s six-month financial results on Feb. 13. Policyholders in the class action have until March 24, 2025, to opt out if they want to make claims directly. Meanwhile, IAG continues to bolster its risk strategy, recently securing a A$10 billion catastrophe reinsurance program for 2025. With legal uncertainties settling and strong financial protections in place, IAG is looking ahead with confidence. 🚀📈

💻Despite a 50% growth in the Dutch cyber insurance market last year, it remains severely underdeveloped, with only a fraction of businesses adequately covered against escalating cyber threats. In 2023, cyber insurance premiums totaled just €101 million, a drop in the ocean compared to the €16.5 billion in total non-life insurance premiums. Why the gap? Many businesses underestimate their risk, mistakenly believe their existing liability policies cover cyber threats, or struggle to meet strict security requirements set by insurers. Market leader Hiscox, for example, only insures companies with revenues under €250 million and mandates strong cybersecurity hygiene. Meanwhile, Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks accounted for 73% of cyber incidents in 2024, and ransomware remains a dominant threat. The bottom line? Cybercriminals are evolving fast, and companies need to wake up—because the cost of a cyberattack isn’t just the ransom, it’s lost business, operational shutdowns, and reputational damage. 🚨
